Find out how M&S contributed to the war effort.
The Second World War affected M&S in many ways and our people rose to the challenge. The Company created a magazine for colleagues at the front called ‘The Forces Bulletin’. Employees at home were trained as Air Raid Wardens and Fire Watchers. M&S Café Bars opened up, providing a break from rationing. M&S experts helped to set the standards for Utility Clothing, the civilian clothes created as part of rationing. Discover M&S war records, from photographs to garments.
